What to do if your pet gets lost
You must personally come to the shelter during
normal business hours to look for your
lost pet. We cannot guarantee that
the front desk staff or volunteers who are answering the telephone are aware
of every animal in the shelter. In addition, the breed may be identified
differently than the one you have identified for that animal. Please
bring a PHOTO and description of your pet.

If you have lost an animal you are solely
responsible for personally coming into the shelter and identifying the
animal. You will be required to provide proof of ownership.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND EMAIL MESSAGES REGARDING LOST ANIMALS.
CONTACT THE
SHELTER DIRECTLY EITHER IN PERSON OR BY PHONE.
Other things you can do to find
your pet:
- Make posters. Include your pet's
description and photo, your phone number, and any reward information.
Use permanent markers that will not wash off in the rain.
- Ask permission to hang your posters in
stores, your school, town hall, veterinary offices, and elsewhere in
your community. Check them every few days to make sure they're still in
good shape.
- Ask veterinarians to notify you if
someone brings in a new pet who looks like yours.
- Talk to your friends, neighbors, and
mail carrier. Ask them to be on the lookout for your pet.
- Call local radio stations and newspapers
to see if they run lost pet announcements.
Good luck! We hope you and your pet are
together again soon.
