Are you looking for a hiking or jogging companion, an energetic, eager-to-please young dog to take out and about? This is CALVIN, a one year old Lab/Pit mix who’s affectionate, joyful and full of enthusiasm for everything! He’s active and very athletic, but he also has wonderful self-control and pays attention beautifully for food treats so will be lots of fun to train. He’s playful, loves his toys, and is just an all-around great dog who makes us smile every day!
Though he’s very contented at the shelter – he loves to go for walks and play in our grassy pen, but is also happy to lie quietly with his toys.
Calvin’s ideal home would be with a young, active single person or couple who’d give him lots of exercise and take him to obedience class. Since his size and energy could be a little overwhelming to another dog, he would probably be best as an only dog until he gets settled in his forever home.

Calvin has grown quite a bit since he’s been at the shelter, but he’s also learned a lot! While he’s still a high energy young dog, he’s learning how to control it better, and his playing in the grassy area isn’t just running in circles now :-)
He still makes me laugh every time I spend time with him. He’ll bring a lot of joy to an active household that will take him to obedience school, maybe teach him some tricks (since he’s a smart dog and I think he’d enjoy it), and good exercise. He has a lot to give and is just looking for a family to give it to.
