DOBIE
IN MEMORY OF DOBIE
Hello,
My husband, Greg, and I adopted Dobie from the Durham APS in February of 1993, a few months before we were married. We’ve been married more than 16 years now, and Dobie has been a part of our family our entire married life.
Dobie passed away on Monday, August 10, 2009, just a few months shy of what would have been her 17th birthday. A Dobie mix (hence the name on her kennel – Dobie X—and the name we gave her), she was a terrific dog who will be terribly, terribly missed. She outlived many who came after her and had a good, long, much-loved life. She was pretty healthy until the very end, with really only one bad day in her long life.
We will be forever grateful to the Durham APS for bringing Dobie into our lives. I clearly remember the day someone came to our home in Hillsborough to make sure we had an appropriate home to provide Dobie. My sister later adopted from the Durham APS (Scout— another terrific dog), so the Jarvis family holds the Durham APS close to our hearts.
I’ve just made a donation in Dobie’s honor and will try to make a habit of it as we continue to remember her.
Thanks for all you are doing for the dogs (and cats) in Durham County.
Warm regards,
Kathryn
PS - A picture of Dobie, at close to age 16, is attached.
