GRACE is a lovely Collie/Shepherd mix who’s 5-7 years old. She’s a gentle, friendly girl who was surrendered to the shelter with severe skin issues (extensive, raw, bleeding areas and widespread hair loss) caused by a combination of allergies (most likely to fleas), poor nutrition and general neglect. She’s now almost unrecognizable as the same dog, having gained weight and grown almost all her hair back :-)
Since Grace is very avoidant of other dogs, we believe she would be happiest as an only dog. She’s looking for a kind home where she can have the love and attention she’s missed out on in the past.
Grace was recently lucky enough to spend a happy Sunday hiking with one of our volunteers – here’s her report: Grace is a lovely, slightly shy, but inquisitive girl. While hiking the Eno River Park today, she was easy on the leash while being interested in all nature’s sounds. She watched intently, but quietly, a baby doe and her parent walking through the woods. During the hike we encountered a few other dogs and Grace was respectful, easily walking by. Grace would love to find a forever home where she’ll be a loving companion :-)
