Happy Endings
- Lucy (adopted June 2007)

I lost my last dog to cancer in March 2007. She was
also a Durham APS dog I adopted 12 years ago. Originally, I thought I would wait
a year before getting another dog. That idea lasted less than 2 month...
Over the next six weeks I made several trips to the APS looking for a special
dog. It wasn’t an easy choice because there are so many good dogs out there. But
Lucy caught my eye; being so calm and quiet in her kennel. And during our visit,
she stayed glued to my side; leaning her weight into me. She was so sweet and
affectionate; I know I wanted her to be my next dog. It felt very special to me
getting another dog from the APS of Durham.
Lucy is adjusting to her forever home nicely. She picked up her house training
in about 3 weeks. She has plenty of toys to play with and chew on. Lucy is
making lots of new doggie and people friends. She’s a social butterfly who wants
to meet every dog and person we meet during our walks.
We’re looking forward to starting obedience classes this week. I also registered
Lucy with the Durham Dog Park this week. She has a lot of puppy energy that I
hope the park can help burn up!
The APS of Durham provides such a wonderful service. Thank you for doing such a
great job!
