Happy Endings - Luke (formerly Gus adopted October 2005)

This is Luke, formerly known as Gus at the APS of Durham, adopted October 2005. He is a GREAT dog!
Luke has been such an incredible blessing to us. We lost our family dog of 11 years and were heartbroken, but we decided we should wait a while before we got another dog. Our vet told us God would plop one in our lap at just the right time. And He did!
Our son, Nick was leaving for Iraq so we adopted his dog, Lilybug, while he was gone. We decided after having Lilybug for a few months that she needed a buddy. And that is how we adopted Luke. Apparently Luke had been picked up out in the countryside of the county. His owner relinquished him to the APS of Durham and we're so glad he did!
Luke is a gentle, loving, obedient and energetic dog with a very personable personality. He loves his new family which includes his Mom, Dad, his sister Lilybug and his cousins, Lucy and Max. He is a handsome dog with beautiful markings - we have decided he is a Husky and German Shepherd mix.
Whenever we come home he greets us with lots of welcoming doggie talk. He loves to go on walks, go to the dog park (where he saw and remembered a woman from APS), fetch the tennis ball, play with his sister and cousins in the back yard (when he's ready to come in, he jumps up on the bench on the back patio, looks in the window and gives us some of his doggie talk) and follow his Mommy around. He especially enjoys when his cousins come to visit for a weekend.
Luke and Lilybug have fun chasing each other and playing tug of war together. His favorite spot is on the bed between his Mommy & Daddy along with Lilybug.
It has been a year this October since we adopted Luke. Words cannot express the joy he has brought to our family. We all love him and are one big happy family!!
The most precious thing about Luke is you can tell how grateful he is to have a forever home - Thanks Durham APS!!
