Become a Member and Help Animals Like Phoenix and Fudge. 

Phoenix was left outside the APS’s front door—she was filthy, emaciated, dehydrated and unable to even lift her head.  Her stomach was empty—so empty it hurt. She had been so malnourished and mistreated that she couldn’t open her sunken-in eyes.  Phoenix had been left to die.  That’s when the dedicated staff at the APS stepped in.  Staff worked quickly to administer much needed fluids and within a week, Phoenix looked like she was going to live.  A year later, Phoenix is happy and healthy, and the nightmarish start to her life is a distant memory. Everyday Shelter staff sees abandoned and neglected animals, like Fudge, come through the front doors. Fudge arrived at the shelter last Fall and it wasn’t long before the staff noticed Fudge was special.  Unfortunately, Fudge needed regular and continued medical attention, making it hard finding a forever home.  Days and months passed and still nobody showed interest.  The staff wondered how much longer we could keep him at the shelter.  Regardless, staff continued to care for Fudge, providing medical care and love, hoping he would find his forever family.  That day came for Fudge nine months later.  Because of the APS’s constant care and love, Fudge finally got the second chance that all animals deserve.  (Fudge pictured below).
