Kids’ Action Team (KAT) will be replacing Kids’ Club and is designed to teach children ages 9 – 12 about animal welfare and activism and prepare them to volunteer with their parents when they become teens.

    Learning, helping and having fun!
    (2009-10 School Year)

The mission of the Kids’ Action Team (KAT) is to have fun learning about animals, their environment and the important role they play in the world. We will educate our future ambassadors and animal advocates about the humane care, treatment, and well being of all animals, the crisis of pet overpopulation, and the importance of spay/neuter.

    WHO:
    Children ages 9 – 12

    WHAT:
    Kids’ Action Team Monthly Meeting

    WHEN:
The third Saturday of most months during the traditional school year from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm.

    WHERE:
Durham County Animal Shelter, 2117 E. Club Blvd, Durham NC 27704

There is no fee to join!

Kids Action Team Members are given the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the need to respect all living creatures – both human and non-human varieties.  There are special guests (both human and animal!) as well as activities involving a variety of animal-related subjects.

The kids have the opportunity to recommend, select and work on humane projects geared to their abilities.  They learn about the shelter and meet some of the animals.  Volunteerism and service are encouraged through projects designed to help the shelter.

Join your child in making a contribution to a kinder world!
