September Volunteer of the Month

We are pleased to recognize Andrea Gray as September’s Volunteer of the Month!  When Andrea began volunteering earlier this year she made an immediate impact with her hard work and dedication.  It was quickly clear that she loves her time at the shelter and with the dogs as she consistently comes in at least twice a week and has braved the midday summer heat walking our dogs.

As a dog walking volunteer Andrea does indeed walk lots of dogs and gives much of her spirit to make them happy.  “My very favorite thing to do is spend time with shy dogs. A close second is handing out toys. There was a particular dog recently, Reggie, who was adopted. I became quite attached to him, and am pleased he found a home. It’s really hard not to form bonds with these special animals, and I enjoy every minute with them.”

Andrea and her husband, Allen, have a 14 year old dog, Lea.  As Andrea is a retired dental hygienist of 25 years you can be sure Lea has clean and healthy teeth!

This month Andrea has taken on a new responsibility at the shelter as a trainer for new dog walking volunteers.  She sets a fine example for everyone here with her hard work and commitment.  It’s always a pleasure to see Andrea at the shelter.  The countless dogs she has cared for and given her time to are so much better off because of her enthusiasm, dedication and love.  Thank you, Andrea, and congratulations on being our Volunteer of the Month!
