Celebrate Dogust with APS!

When you adopt from a shelter, the staff does their best in guessing the age of the animals. So when do you party with your pup? That’s where DOGust 1st comes in – it is the international birthday for shelter pets! That’s right, it’s the official day to celebrate rescued animals and their importance in the lives of their humans.

Dogust, which takes place Aug. 1 each year, is a nationwide celebration for dogs whose birthdays are unknown. It’s been a holiday since 2008, when staff at the North Shore Animal League of New York set out to ensure even dogs without official birthdays still get their own special day.

Celebrate Dogust with us and read below the best way how!

Donate!

Providing care for the animals in our shelter takes a LOT of resources – people, veterinary care, food, supplies and so much more. We count on donations to make it all possible.  Donate today in honor of that special four-legged friend in your life or for those who are waiting for their forever homes here at APS.

Donate items from our wish list!

We are always in need of many supplies at the shelter, from treats to harnesses to toys and towels. Click here for a link to our Amazon wish list or click here to see the full list.
