DAISY (formerly Dawn – adopted June 2014)

daisy-and-bruno-marburyDear Durham APS staff and volunteers,
We wanted to let all the wonderful people of the Durham APS know that Dawn, who has reinvented herself as “Daisy”, has rapidly become a true family member in our home.  There was concern by the APS folks that she was very shy and submissive, and that she might have some challenges in feeling comfortable for a while. Although we were very mindful of that, all of us need not have worried!
After a brief tour of her new digs, especially her new wonderful fenced-in garden,  Daisy immediately began to  frolic with Bruno (Durham APS graduate, class of 2012).  Bruno really brought out the best in Daisy, and shortly she had established herself as a confident and appropriately assertive female!  Gentle sparring sessions have continued to-date with Daisy always getting  the last say in the matter. As proof, we’ve attached a photo of B. and D. together in a frequent after play pose…..note that Daisy is the one with Bruno’s toy, no resource issues at all!
Together with our elderly and matronly Labrador, Lilly, we now have three happy and well-adjusted pups.  We are overjoyed with our new forever friend, and are SO grateful that the people of the Durham APS made the extra effort to save this wonderful and confident dog.
Keep up the fine and important work!!!!!!
Best regards,
JoAnne and Dean Marbury-Bixler, and Daisy (WOOF!!!)
