Well, hello wonderful human — you look like my forever dog-parent! I’m Bernard, but my friends call me Bernie. I’m very sweet, curious, and affectionate! I like gentle people who will go slow with me as I can be a little nervous with new people, but I warm up quickly, especially if you have TREATS! I’ll need confidence building in new situations, continued basic training, and a cozy bed all my own! Come meet me today!

Meet Bernie — a sweet little oddball with a heart that is learning how to be carefree 💛

Bernie loves his toys, especially the tough ones he can really go to town on (Nylabones are his absolute favorite). Treats? Any kind. Bernie is not picky and will happily accept them all, thank you very much. He is house trained, polite at home, and truly a fantastic roommate — the kind who won’t eat your food unless you offer but will steal your spot on the couch.

He has excellent range: one moment he is a full-on couch potato, the next he is an expert explorer ready to sniff every interesting corner of the world. He adores people and loves nothing more than being near his humans. With dogs, Bernie assumes everyone wants to be his best friend. Cats? He’s still deciding if they are friends or… something else entirely.

Bernie also makes an amazing remote-work buddy, quietly hanging out and reminding you to take breaks for cuddles. He came from a background of neglect, so he has a few quirks, but every day he is learning that life can be soft, safe, and full of good things. Watching him relax and learn how to just be a dog is incredibly special and he is ready to do that with someone who will love him forever. 🐾
