Deborah
Personality Color: orange
Orange dogs are likely young, energetic, and enthusiastic with lots of love to give! They will thrive with regular exercise, and some training classes would be a good idea. These dogs would be a great companion for an active person who enjoys running or hiking in the park. Fenced-in yard a plus!- adult
- female
Bio data
Deborah is a love bug and one heck of a wigglemonster. It’s been over 7 months since Deborah entered our shelter as a stray. Deborah has the sniffer of champions and shows affection like no other. A little over 5 years old, she would benefit from playtime, learning opportunities, exercise (monitored during heartworm treatment), and exploration. We recommend kids 6 and up as she can be a bit jumpy, but we know it’s only out of excitement. Deborah can be a bit of a worry wart when it comes to other dogs as she becomes concerned by intense and sudden movements, but does love gentle chase and a good sniffing partner. She is smart, cute, and sure to bring you joy – what else do we need to say to convince you, come meet this girl today!
Deborah is currently heartworm positive and looking for a gentle person with a big heart to help walk through treatment with her. The good news is, heartworm positive dogs are available for our foster to adopt program, where APS will continue to provide medical care throughout the heartworm treatment process. Once the treatment is over, you can legally adopt. Or, you can adopt right away with intention to seek outside heartworm treatment.
Kids 6+, can be jumpy, worried by novel objects
Dogs: Concerned by intense dogs, some sniffing, may prefer chase games with gentle dogs
Heartworm positive – APS is currently offering no cost heartworm treatment through a foster to adopt period. Have questions? Email adopt@apsofdurham.org or call 919-560-0640.
