Delores

Personality Color: orange

Orange dogs are likely young, energetic, and enthusiastic with lots of love to give! They will thrive with regular exercise, and some training classes would be a good idea. These dogs would be a great companion for an active person who enjoys running or hiking in the park. Fenced-in yard a plus!

Bio data

I’m pretty sure I’m a princess and I’m ready for my royal treatment! I’m a sweet and sensitive girl who enjoys treats, gentle affection, and play once I’m comfortable. I like to jog and run and feel more comfortable after running because I get all my energy out! I know “sit”, “lie down” and “eat your food”, I’m really smart and respond well when told no and redirected.  I’m house trained and ride well in the car. I love pets and can’t wait to find a home where I am comfortable, I know I will flourish into a confident version of myself! I know I’ll be a good buddy, my foster mom often found me right beside her as she was doing chores around the house. Meet me today!
Kids: 8+, go slow, anxious, high energy
Dogs: Some sniffing, prefers gentle dogs, recommend dog-dog meeting or slow intros

Read a note from Delores’s foster family :

“Delores is an intelligent, independent, fun-loving pup looking for her forever family! Spending time with two older mixed breed dogs in her foster home, she brings so much joy, laughter, and goofiness into our lives. She starts her day by jumping vertically in the air as we fill her bowl with kibble. She nestles up to her canine housemates as she eats, showing zero food aggression, then runs happily to the back door ready for her potty break. After taking care of business and doing some sniffing, she heads back in for her morning nap. On weekends, she typically snoozes until late morning, so she definitely won’t mind if you sleep in too. Her afternoons are spent playing tug-of war with her dog friends, chewing her bone in the sun, and following us around the house. She is careful not to be underfoot, but is curious and inquisitive with her surroundings and would like to know what you’re up to if it happens to be interesting! Her evening walk is next- the moment she sees her harness, the happy zoomies begin! Being in and out of the shelter over the past year, she’s still getting reacclimated to polite walks and needs to be reminded to slow down every now and then. She is progressing well with clicker training and has no reactivity when she sees other neighborhood dogs on their walks. She can be shy at first with strangers but is rolling over for belly rubs in no time after slow introductions. Busy intersections with loud cars/trucks are still scary for Delores, so she really thrives in more quiet areas (this girl loves the South Ellerbee trail!) Once back home, she sits on command ready for her dinner. A few more rounds of checking out the toy stash and chewing on a Kong, then she puts herself to bed in her kennel around 10pm. Delores does not undervalue her sleep whatsoever. Overall, she is a smart, adorable, goofy girl who is amazing with other dogs and houseguests, and has so much love to give to her future family. Meet Delores, we promise you’ll love her right back!”
