Gabe is a 50 lb. 4-5 y/o leggy hound who is happiest when his day is full of tracking smells, some zoomies and sunbathing in the backyard, time with his humans, and snuggling in for cuddles.

This happy pup plays well with other dogs and adjusts his energy to match theirs. He enjoys toys and will entertain himself tossing a toy in the air, catching it, and zooming around the yard. He loves to run!! He’s an active dog and would love a human who will take him on long walks every day to help him burn off his energy. Gabe loves a car ride, loves to explore, and is a great hiking partner!!

Gabe was brought to APS in May 2022 by a Good Samaritan. He was underweight, covered in ticks, and very fearful; but with love and care he gained trust and confidence and was adopted. Unfortunately, his owner suffered an injury this spring and could no longer care for him. He’s now patiently awaiting his furever home.

Naturally, Gabe is a bit cautious around new people.  He warms up quickly to most women and needs more patience around men. Once he knows you, you’ll find him to be loyal, loving, silly, and endearing. He’s super sweet and very gentle with kids, but may startle little ones when he has his zoomies.

He is house-trained, crate-trained, and doing really well with basic training and leash manners. Because he’s a little shy he doesn’t like crowded places (yet!), but he’s building confidence every day and has started visiting places with outdoor seating with his foster.

This pup is super athletic and can jump pretty high, so needs a home with a high fence. He sometimes goes into hound-dog mode, particularly around cats, and will be laser-focused on tracking and treeing. **Not recommended for a home with cats.

If you want a sweet, athletic, goofy, cuddle bug you can chill with and exercise with, Gabe may be your guy. His foster says he is just the sweetest soul!!
