Personality Color: green

Green dogs are a bit more shy and sensitive, maybe a little anxious, but are sweet and they try hard. These dogs will flourish with patient adopters providing gentle guidance and confidence building. They are likely too timid for active homes with children, and would do best in a calm, quiet home getting the TLC they deserve.

Bio data

Looking for a passenger princess? Giselle is your girl. She is a strong independent woman with a desire for long walks around the Eno and keeping watch for squirrels. Giselle is an excellent loose leash walker, easily redirectable, and a great listener. While she’s not too keen on snuggling up, she won’t deny any belly rubs or peanut butter for that matter. Giselle has been at APS since September 23rd and at 2 years old is ready to find her forever home. We can promise cuteness and lots of personal space. Interested? Giselle is too!

Kids: 8+, independent

Dogs: Playful, savvy, reactive when frustrated. May resource guard water or other items

Giselle has spent some time in foster, here’s what the humans have to say about her:

She’s not nearly as contact avoidant as I was expecting. She definitely is happiest sitting on the back deck and keeping alert for squirrels. And she’s not a snuggler, but is totally fine with contact, seems to enjoy pets (likes belly rubs a lot).  Loves playing fetch. She’s really good on a leash and doesn’t pull. She’s explored her boundaries in terms of starting to shred a pillow or jump on us; trying to eat food off the table and not dropping the ball after a fetch. But she’s quite redirectable; like she’s interested in learning. Not food motivated at all though. She’s been eaten only a little and really only responds to peanut butter as a treat.  We’ll keep monitoring.

She’s actually great with our 6 yr old son. He throws the ball for her and she has yet to push him down or run him over.

Gisele went home with me for a couple of hours today and had fun exploring my yard and hiking in the woods behind my house. Gisele is all of the following:— Excellent car rider. She likes to copilot and rest her head on the back of the driver’s seat. She loves a slightly open window but might try to climb out if open too wide.

— Non reactive. She didn’t react to my dogs even when they were barking at her from inside the house.

— Great explorer. She happily explored my fenced back yard but came right back when I called her.

— Super hiking dog and loose leash walker. Gisele loved walking the trail in the woods near my house.

Overall, Gisele is very pleasant, well-behaved, and sweet. She also just happens to be beautiful. We had a lovely outing.

Giselle is a wonderful girl. She’s full of love and play and can be cuddly once warmed up. She’s becoming a loose leash walker and isn’t that reactive on a leash unless she sees a squirrel (becoming less reactive over time). She is great with other dogs and is very friendly, when having playdates she has a great time, if there is another dog in the home she has shown some guarding over food but is eager to learn. Routine has worked best for her feeding schedule, and outside oof that she periodically shows interest in treats. She’s a big girl who knows her size and is learning not to jump. Overall she would make a great addition to any family willing to give her the love she so badly deserves!
