Personality Color: orange

Orange dogs are likely young, energetic, and enthusiastic with lots of love to give! They will thrive with regular exercise, and some training classes would be a good idea. These dogs would be a great companion for an active person who enjoys running or hiking in the park. Fenced-in yard a plus!

Are you ready for fun?? I’m a playful girl who likes to keep the good times rolling! I’m a big sweetie and not shy about asking for affection. I just need a little time to warm up. I love a stuffed toy and will keep myself busy with it. Just know that I’m a talker—I have a lot to say and I’ll say it loud and proud. I’ll need lots of playtime, chances to explore, basic training, and a cozy retreat. Let’s chat!

Any age kids, but can be vocal (barking)

Dogs: Friendly, bit nervous. Offers appeasement play but prefers gentle sniffing partner

Gretchen recently had a doggy day out, here’s what the humans had to say about her:

Gretchen came along to help with my Sunday errands and yard work. She currently holds the record for the fastest jump into the get away vehicle. She rides beautifully in the car and was happy to hang out in the back seat while I ran into Lowe’s. She is calm, quiet and well behaved. She would make an excellent apartment dog and /or camping companion. We went to the pet store and the staff showered her with love and treats. Then she enjoyed ambling around the woods in my yard. She also holds the record for the slowest reentry to her kennel. Outside the shelter, she is a lovely companion for all sorts of activities.

She is currently in foster, here’s what they have to say about her:

Gretchen is a DOLL. Such a sweet, snuggly, chill girl. Such a different dog now versus when I picked her up Saturday. I don’t know how no one has taken her home yet. Especially with her pretty markings.

Saturday, she was very independent and in her crate a lot. Now she follows me everywhere. Finally got into playing yesterday afternoon, and very happy with any stuffie. Still eating inconsistently, but will happily take her treat. We are going to start training after work today, and she has been learning how to be a good walker. Happy to meet humans of all ages. Washing her was so easy. Didn’t flinch.
