Maggie
Personality Color: orange
Orange dogs are likely young, energetic, and enthusiastic with lots of love to give! They will thrive with regular exercise, and some training classes would be a good idea. These dogs would be a great companion for an active person who enjoys running or hiking in the park. Fenced-in yard a plus!- adult

My name is Maggie, but you can call me Dame Maggie (after the great Maggie Smith). Pleased to make your acquaintance! I’m a food-motivated independent lady who knows how to sit and takes treats oh so gently. I do have some less posh pleasures, like squeaky toys and butt scritches, and I would LOVE some loose leash training (proper ladies don’t pull) and brain games to keep me active. If you’re looking for a Downton Abbey doggie, I’m your dame!
More about Maggie from a recent Doggy Day Out:
Maggie has an adventurous spirit and a super fun vibe! She’s a lovely girl too, with a gleaming brindle coat and sweet little ears that look like cresting waves. She has an inquisitive mind and immediately found a tennis ball hiding in the car, which kept her happily occupied during the drive. Once we reached the trail, she shifted her focus to the walk and blossomed in nature. She’s bright and engaged, noticing sounds and woodland sights. She responded nicely to cues, like a quick point indicating which path to take. She’d sit when asked and smile up with cute little bottom teeth on display. She kept a brisk pace (she’s here for that exercise) but pulled and weaved very minimally. She became slightly nervous when she saw people approaching but calmed with a little reassurance and passed without major fuss. A little practice should help her master the experience, but she is well on her way to being a great hiking companion. Maggie was very intrigued by the water, delighted to get her feet wet and eyed the deeper pools with a brave glint in her eye.
After her hike, we headed to Pelican’s Snowballs. Maggie was calm and unbothered by the music and people, happy to chill out and wait for her treat. She wanted to spin the wheel to pick a flavor, but we told her the chicken broth pup cup was the best order for good girls like her! She showed her appreciation with kisses and lit up when she got some scritches. With her keen eye, she spied a stuffed frog toy in the crowd that an individual was holding. Her enthusiasm for toys would be a great incentive for basic training and possibly all sorts of fun canine agility games. Maggie is a great fit for someone who enjoys actively engaging with their pup through play and wants to include her in their daily activities. She’s intelligent, beautiful, and a true joy to be around.
Kids: 8+, object exchange for toys with other toys
Dogs: Friendly sniffing but mostly ignores, prefers gentle dogs and slow intros
