Personality Color: orange

Orange dogs are likely young, energetic, and enthusiastic with lots of love to give! They will thrive with regular exercise, and some training classes would be a good idea. These dogs would be a great companion for an active person who enjoys running or hiking in the park. Fenced-in yard a plus!

Love a good game of Marco? Polo! We’ve got just the guy for you. Meet Marco, an active, curious, and friendly guy who is looking for a home for the holidays. His favorite things include chasing after balls, stuffies, and being silly. He’s got striking ears and a shiny coat to go along with his subtle yet spunky personality.  Marco has been at APS since July 25th and at just 1 year and 3 months old, is looking to settle down and snuggle up. He’d love it if his new family spent time helping him with his training, as he is still a work in progress – as are we all. His schedule is wide open so surprise him with a visit him today.

Kids: 10+, jumpy/mouthy, active

Dogs: forward/rude, slow intros with tolerant dogs

Marco recently had a doggy day out, here’s what the humans have to say about him:

The best Christmas gift I could think of to give my beautiful and slightly chunky shelter crush, Marco, was to take him on a hike. He was willing to get decorated with multiple Christmas bandanas for the outing and still somehow managed to look regal. He is very relaxed and calm riding in the car. When we got to the Eno State Park parking lot, he was so excited to go hiking that he jumped into my front passenger seat. Being gorgeous weather and Christmas Eve, the trails were crowded with adults of all ages, kids and other dogs. Marco was a champion of politeness and obedience and quietly got off the trail every time to let others pass. Marco is a really easy, loose leash walker. He loves to sniff and check out the water. We hiked for just less than two miles and he would stayed much longer. Marco loves being outside in the woods. This was a new trail to me and it was comforting to have Marco along. He is an outstanding explorer and companion.
