Moe

Personality Color: green

Green dogs are a bit more shy and sensitive, maybe a little anxious, but are sweet and they try hard. These dogs will flourish with patient adopters providing gentle guidance and confidence building. They are likely too timid for active homes with children, and would do best in a calm, quiet home getting the TLC they deserve.

Bio data

Hello there, my name is Moe! What’s your name? I’m a sweet and sensitive boy who also has energy to spare! I love to explore and play with toys! I particularly love to chew on a stuffy that squeaks! I’ll benefit from confidence building, lots of positive experiences, maybe an emotional support stuffy, and opportunities to explore and sniff. Let’s go walking together!

Kids: 10+, may be nervous to start, go slow

Dogs: Friendly sniffing, may enjoy chase games, prefers gentle dogs

More about Moe from his time in foster care:

Here are some of his best qualities…

  • He’s a loving dog…we bonded pretty darned quick. I came home from work yesterday and he met me at the door all butt wiggles, tail wags and excitement as if we’d been friends for years. He relishes ear rubs, belly rubs, and just being in physical contact.
  • He’s beautiful…the pictures don’t do the color of his coat justice. It’s also so soft it’s hard to stop petting him!
  • He likes people and especially other dogs… he was keen to meet all the dogs we ran into on our walks in the neighborhood, but not so badly that it was like a tractor pull.  For those dogs who wanted to interact, he approached with good energy and wagging tail that other dogs responded positively to.  Most impressive to me, in the couple of instances where after 15 seconds of happy interaction, the other dog changed its mind and snapped or growled, Moe just kept wagging his tail and moved on down the road with no response.  My friend came over this morning (who he’d only met once before) and he welcomed her like family.
  • He behaved well in the house and car...he had no accidents in the house.  I left him loose in the house for hours while I was at work and he didn’t chew up anything. In the car he either slept curled up in the seat, or put his nose out the window, but did not stress out, jump around, etc.
  • He was instantly the most popular dog at practice…I took him to Ultimate Frisbee Tuesday night and Saturday afternoon and I was surprised at people’s reaction.  “Wow, what a handsome dog.” “Wow, what a sweet dog.”  “Did you bring Moe back with you today?” “You’re going to foster-fail with this guy, right?”  When I sat down after playing a couple of points, he had to give me a full body hug to let me know he was glad I was back.

Other details:

He’s about 3 years old

He loves to destroy a plush dog toy and get the squeaker out

He likes tug-o-war, but was very careful not to get my hand while we roughhoused

He enjoyed going on a few 2-mile runs and does impressive high-speed zoomies in the yard

He can be a bit of a puller on the leash, but we started working on slack leash walking and he seemed to pick up on it pretty quick.  I suspect he would be very responsive to any positive reinforcement training.
