Phoenix

Heartworm positive

Personality Color: green

Green dogs are a bit more shy and sensitive, maybe a little anxious, but are sweet and they try hard. These dogs will flourish with patient adopters providing gentle guidance and confidence building. They are likely too timid for active homes with children, and would do best in a calm, quiet home getting the TLC they deserve.

Meet Phoenix! A volunteer favorite who has been with us since August 5th 2022. Phoenix is a little more on the mellow side and doesn’t really toot her own horn, so we are gonna do it for her. She is a mature 5 year old who weighs 52 pounds. She is a little timid at first but treats, kongs and love can break the ice for her. Once she is truly comfortable she will show you her silly side with a case of the zoomies. Oh and She LOVES belly rubs. Last week, Phoenix got to spend the day out of the shelter with one of our volunteers. Here is what they said about their time with Phoenix…”She is such a sweetheart!! She is asleep on my shoe as I type. Walked around Durham, no reactivity to dogs, went to a brewery, loves tummy rubs. Glad we took a chance and gave her a break.”

Phoenix is looking for a family or person that can go slow with her and help build her confidence. In exchange, she will offer loyal companionship and love. Could that person be you?
