Rocco

Personality Color: blue

Blue dogs are easy going and easily adapt to new situations. They are generally calm, may be playful but not overly exuberant, and will likely be happy doing just about anything with you. These dogs will be a good fit for just about any home, and would be great for first-time dog owners.

Hello buddy! I’m curious, friendly, sweet, attentive, affectionate, and a little nervous at times. I like treats, gentle affection, and being with people. I need basic manners, opportunities to explore, gentle people, long walks, and snuggles. I’d love a home where I can relax and be with gentle people.
Kids: 10+, rough, jumpy, grabby with treats
Dogs: tried to hump, stiff, then avoidant, slow/careful intros or single dog

Rocco recently spent some time in foster. Here’s what they have to say about him:

Fostering Rocco this past weekend was a dream. He was quite literally the perfect dog. We are a family of four and he fit right in with both of my kids (ages 11 and 8). He never jumped on us and responded with lots of tail wagging whenever we came into the room. He likes treats, but his love language is giving and receiving affection. He just wanted to be next to us hanging out, whether we were watching TV, taking a nap, or eating dinner. Speaking of eating, he was a very gracious eater. He did a patient tippy tappy dance while we were preparing his meal, and sat on the floor next to us while we were eating. He never begged for food or jumped up on the table. He loves going in the car and jumped quickly in the back seat of our SUV. The entire time he was just looking out the window and taking it all in. One of the sweetest things about Rocco is that he loves to have you hold his paw and rub his belly and he will give you his paw when he wants affection or attention. He is very well potty trained and went to the door when he wanted to go into our backyard and do his business. He also slept through the night on a large cushion we made into a dog bed for him. He never tried to jump up on the couch or bed and just loved laying by our feet. The only issue was that he got excited when he saw our 16yo cat enter the room. He didn’t exact chase him, but he trotted over to him in a way that made our cat hide for the rest of the weekend. So, if you have cat, it may take some creative thinking about how to introduce them. Overall, Rocco is am amazing dog and would be great for a family with kids or anyone who wants a loving low maintenance dog.”
