Rosi

Personality Color: orange

Orange dogs are likely young, energetic, and enthusiastic with lots of love to give! They will thrive with regular exercise, and some training classes would be a good idea. These dogs would be a great companion for an active person who enjoys running or hiking in the park. Fenced-in yard a plus!

Bio data

Meet Rosi: She is a playful, sensitive pup who was surrendered to APS after being hit with gunshot shrapnel. Right away it was easy to see her energy and determination. She wasn’t going to let an injury slow her down!! She’s had surgery to remove the shrapnel and is now ready for her forever home.

When tired out, this sweet girl loves getting pets and snuggling next to her human on the couch. She’s likely to help you ‘wash’ your face, beard, ears with her kisses when she’s excited. She also loves running from human to human and hasn’t yet learned to control her enthusiasm over being part of a human pack. She’s still working on not jumping so needs to be supervised with kids.

Rosi is very curious about cats, rabbits, birds, squirrels, and even lizards and will pull on her leash if she sees these animals. She loves to sniff around the back yard and will chase a lizard around if she sees one.

Having suffered a traumatic injury and then living at the shelter, Rosi is somewhat anxious. She did really well in her crate, also slept in her crate, while living in a foster home. She would rather be with her humans, but the crate helps to calm her.

Rosi gets along very well meeting other dogs, but has a hard time with other dogs in the same home. It seems that Rosi has had some food scarcity in the past, so she will compete with another dog for food. She has no food resource guarding with humans. She also tries to hide toys from other dogs. Ultimately, she’ll likely be happier and feel more secure as an only dog.

The perfect home for Rosi would be one with a predictable routine with humans who can help her to continue her journey of becoming the secure, confident girl she is deep inside. She would do best without other pets in the home and with adults only or dog-savvy kids (due to her enthusiasm).

At roughly 35 lbs and not quite full grown (birthday 7/25/2022) this young pup is a perfect size. She’s sweet and loving, still has much to learn, but will give you her whole heart if you let her.
