At last… my love has come along! Don’t be surprised if you have hearts in your eyes after meeting me! I’m a sweet, endearing, affectionate, and playful girl who is super friendly and loves a good walk! Sniffing is also one of my favorite things – only second to a snuggle and treats! I’ll need some basic training, plenty of exercise, and a snuggle buddy! Now… where’s your favorite chair?!

Kids: Any age, mindful of size

Dogs: Avoids other dogs, prefers people, walking partner okay

Heartworm positive – Roux has completed her heartworm treatment! She’s doing great — she just needs a little more time with restricted activity to finish her recovery.

Roux’s got all the extra-special somethings to make her the perfect addition to your family! She’s sweet-natured, affectionate and cuddly (you might say she’s a velcro dog), loyal, gentle, and attentive. Happiest when close to her people, she’s a joy in the house and walks on leash like a dream, preferring s-l-o-o-o-o-w walks with lots of sniffs. She’s treat-motivated and has been fun to train. Her very favorite treat? A peanut butter Kong.

Being in the shelter was stressful for Roux, but she adapted to our rhythms quickly and easily in foster. She sleeps quietly in her kennel overnight, waits patiently to be let out in the morning, and independently chooses to rest in her kennel throughout the day.

She settled nicely into the comings and goings of lots of different people and been great around them all, although she hasn’t been with babies or very small children while she’s been with us. New situations? No problem for Roux. We brought her out and about in downtown Durham, decked out in her “Adopt Me” vest, and she was a big hit!

Roux is heartworm positive, but she’s successfully completed her treatment! She’s still in recovery mode, so she needs to be on activity restriction for a few more weeks. She would be her best self in a home without cats, and she can be selective about her dog friends, so slow, calm introductions are recommended. We really love her – we’re so excited for her to find her new people!
