Shirley

Personality Color: orange

Orange dogs are likely young, energetic, and enthusiastic with lots of love to give! They will thrive with regular exercise, and some training classes would be a good idea. These dogs would be a great companion for an active person who enjoys running or hiking in the park. Fenced-in yard a plus!

Helloooooo! I’m the local tripod, Shirley! I’m a playful, friendly, sweet, wiggly, happy-go-lucky girl! I’m pretty active, affectionate and curious. I like being with people, play, snacks, exploring, and chasing toys. I’ll need basic training, opportunities to learn, exercise, and run. Let’s play a game together!

Kids: any age, jumpy, enthusiastic

Dogs: Friendly sniffing, no play, but may be playful once comfortable

Shirley has been spending some time in foster. Here’s what the humans have to say about her:

Shirley is the best. She is such a fun and easy dog. She is fully house trained and crate trained. She was amazing with our kids.  She reads a room really well and matches the energy—she can play hard with the kids and is also happy to find a cozy spot on the floor or cuddle up.

She loves her stuffed toys or a game of tug-of-war and loves sniffing around outside and finding a stick to chew on.

Having three legs doesn’t slow her down much. She can still run around, walk up and down stairs and jump onto beds and couches.  Once in a while she needs a hand getting onto a bed when she’s worn herself out, but she’s super capable and strong.

As a puppy, she can get a little mouthy when she’s playing, but she is easily directed to her toys and aims to please.

She was very excited by our cats, more so than they liked, but she was gentle and I think she could be friends with cats with slow, consistent intros and enough time.

She was polite with dogs in passing, but didn’t have off-leash time with dogs.

Shirley is such an amazing dog and is going to make a family so happy.
