LUCY (adopted May 2012)

lucy5Hi, I’m Lucy!

I don’t remember much about it now, but I’m told I was brought to the shelter when I was about 4 months old after I was found lying by the side of the road. I had most likely been hit by a car, and had lots of cuts and bruises, and fractures of my front and back legs (I even had some of my teeth knocked out!)

The folks at the shelter were all really nice and took great care of me. After they got me patched up (they even arranged for me to have surgery to have something called “a plate” put in my front leg), I went to live with a nice family while I recovered.

The people already had 3 other dogs, Hazel, Jethro and Dougal, who it turned out had all lived at the shelter for a bit themselves – isn’t that a coincidence?! I liked them all immediately (don’t tell anyone, but I have a big crush on that big, handsome Jethro!).

After I had been in my foster home for a couple of months and tried my hardest to make everyone like me, my family decided that I should stay (which was my plan all along!!)

My front leg still looks a bit funny, but I don’t let it hold me back. Dougal and I love to run in our back yard, and everyone says you would never know that I didn’t have four good legs  J

Anyhow, I just wanted to say a big thank you to the staff and volunteers at the shelter for taking such good care of me. You all are the best!!
