The Animal Protection Society of Durham is looking for a Shelter Veterinarian to join their team of dedicated employees and volunteers. The APS of Durham, located in central North Carolina (regularly listed as one of the top places to live in the U.S.), is celebrating their 50th year of helping animals and serving the community. The Shelter Veterinarian is responsible for medical care and spay/neuter of animals in the shelter and in foster care. Other duties include management of the heartworm treatment program, referral to outside veterinarians for specialized surgical or medical care, prescribing medications and treatments for shelter and foster animals, soft tissue surgery as experience allows, working with management to develop new programs for life-saving efforts, and supervision of medical staff members.
