Ten years ago, Triangle Rabbits and AniMall started an annual Rabbit Day to inform, educate and introduce people to the joy of house rabbits as pets, and to celebrate “Adopt a Rescued Rabbit Month” for the month of February. This year they expect to be the biggest year yet, and APS will be there with rabbits that are available for adoption.

The event is Saturday, Feb. 25, at AniMall in Cary, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be rabbits not only from APS but other rescues, activities for children, a craft fair and raffle, rabbit toys and rabbit-themed gifts. There will also be classes on rabbit care.

11 a.m. – Intro to Bunny Bonding – things to consider when looking for a friend for your rabbit

1 p.m. – Therapy Rabbits – learn about rabbits as therapy animals, and about the certification program from Pet Partners

2 p.m. – Bunny 101 – bunny basics, especially for new adopters, or people considering adding a rabbit to their family

3 p.m. – Housing Ideas for Your Rabbit – check out different indoor housing options and get some bunny-proofing tips

The raffle will benefit all attending groups, and proceeds from the raffle will be used to purchase small animal supplies that are needed for each rescue/organization. Children will be able to create toys for shelter animals, including rabbits!
